Director Biography - Christina Georgiou
Christina Georgiou (PhD) is an award-winning screenwriter and composer, adjunct faculty at the University of Nicosia and a Member of the European Film Academy. She was selected to train, among others, at the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2010 and at the EFA in 2012 and has contributed, as a composer, screenwriter, producer and director, to more than 30 internationally acclaimed film projects produced in Europe and the United States. Styx (2008) received six international awards, including Best Soundtrack at the Monaco Film Festival (Angel Film Awards). Genesis 2:26 (2012) received Two First Prizes in Italy and Kiev, while her screenplay For Eternity (2012) received the Big Audiovisual Award (Micrografi screenplay competition, Athens). In 2014, Afterthoughts received the 2nd Prize at the ISFFC and was distributed globally by Eurochannel. A year later, Out of Sight received the First Prize in the same festival. Christina was a co-producer of the award-winning Greek feature Holy Boom (2018), while the screenplay Sweet Rose received a production award by Microfilm Program (ERT) in 2020. As an avid animal welfare volunteer, Christina ventured into directing and producing her debut feature, The Stray Story: A dogumentary, borne out of a need to set forth the struggle of animals and the values of the people who do their best to help.
