Short description

On August 9, 1945, sixteen-year-old postman Sumiteru Taniguchi was delivering mail when the atomic bomb exploded over Nagasaki. Against all odds, he survived and became a leading voice for the Hibakusha (atomic bomb survivors), dedicating his life to peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons until his death in 2017.
The Postman of Nagasaki is a deeply personal documentary that weaves together three intertwined stories: that of Taniguchi; Peter Townsend, a Royal Air Force pilot, peace advocate, and author of the book The Postman of Nagasaki; and his daughter Isabelle, who embarks on a journey of discovery decades after her father’s death.
When Isabelle finds voice recordings from her father’s final trip to Japan, she recalls the book that first moved her as a young woman. Traveling to Nagasaki with these recordings in hand, she retraces his footsteps – guided by his voice and Taniguchi’s testimony.
As she uncovers the profound lessons their shared mission holds for her own life, Isabelle comes to see how one survivor's courage and one writer's compassion elevated a single testimony into a timeless call for peace.

Short description

In a future devastated by radiation, an elderly man moves through the ruins of a city reduced to rubble, trying to survive in a world ruled by violence and oppression.
In parallel, during the 1980s at the height of the Cold War, a child with a vivid imagination spends his days in a typical American home, transforming global tensions into epic battles between toy soldiers, between good and the forces of evil.

Director:

Stefano Marco Girardi

Director's Bio

After graduating and earning a Master’s degree in Communication, I spent four years working as an Art Director at Saatchi & Saatchi in Milan. That experience shaped my visual language, but I soon felt the need to move beyond advertising and devote myself entirely to directing.
I began traveling to film reportages, documentaries, and short films for non-profit organizations such as Terre des Hommes, Manitese, and COOPI, working in countries including South Africa, Senegal, Mozambique, Cambodia, and Myanmar. Those journeys deeply influenced my perspective, allowing me to witness stories of resilience, dignity, and hope firsthand.
Alongside my documentary work, I have directed several short films centered on social themes — the defense of women’s rights, environmental protection, and the pursuit of peace. These projects reflect my belief that cinema can be both poetic and political, intimate and universal at the same time.
Even within the commercial world, I have always tried to preserve the documentary “eye,” directing mini-docs, case histories, and campaigns for brands such as Samsung, Toshiba, Acer, Porsche, and Moto Guzzi.
The passion I bring to every project remains the same — whether documentary or commercial — because what truly drives me is the human story behind each image.

Short description

In the vibrant neighbourhood of “El Paraíso” in Bogotá, Colombia, lives Ainara, a curious 10-year-old girl whose world is a kaleidoscope. Ainara's days are filled with laughter, creativity, and a zest for life, nurtured by her loving parents, Leidy and Carlos, and her little sister, Ade. They all reside in "Violetta", a community library created by her parents ten years ago, coinciding with Ainara's birth. Violetta is a welcoming place for children in El Paraíso, where they can learn and play together while their parents work long hours. Through Ainara's cheerful and spontaneous perspective, the film takes us on a journey through her daily adventures. El Paraíso itself is a very colourful place, full of hidden gems waiting to be discovered. In this unique environment, Ainara and her family engage with other kids in activities like theatre, crafting projects, and more, fostering a strong sense of belonging. "Ainara's Paradise" is a celebration of community spirit, resilience, and a lot of Girl Power. It highlights the importance of a supportive community in creating a paradise where children can grow, feel safe, and simply be children. For Ainara, the future feels wide open; for now, it’s all about making friends and exploring new things.
